Member Terms

Review draft

Rules for accounts, community participation, Spot information, messaging, safety, and future feature activation.

1. Draft status and scope

These Member Terms are an operational prototype for professional review. They describe ScoutSeek's intended community soft-launch rules but are not effective legal terms until ScoutSeek publishes an effective date, identifies the operating legal entity, and completes counsel review.

At the current soft-launch stage, ScoutSeek provides community, Spot discovery, profiles, Connections, direct messaging between permitted connections, moderation tools, deterministic ScoutSeek Lens routing, and related support functions. Paid report purchases, Scout payouts, subscriptions, and other future products are not active unless the app clearly says otherwise at the point of use.

2. Eligibility and accounts

The final minimum-age rule remains subject to counsel approval. Until that decision is activated in the product, no user should represent that they meet an age requirement the app does not actually verify.

Members must provide accurate account information, protect their credentials, use only accounts they are authorized to control, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. Accounts may not be sold, transferred, impersonated, or used to evade a restriction.

3. Community relationships and messaging

A Connection is a product-permitted relationship between members. Creating, accepting, or retaining a Connection—or participating in a page—does not automatically disclose precise location, Secret Spot information, private messages, or other restricted data.

Direct messages may be sent only through product-permitted relationships and must comply with the Community Guidelines. Blocking or removing a connection must stop new contact through that relationship, subject to narrowly limited safety, moderation, and record-retention needs.

4. Member content

Members retain ownership of content they submit. They grant ScoutSeek a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, display, and distribute that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, moderate, improve, and promote ScoutSeek, subject to the member's visibility settings and applicable law.

Members must have the rights needed to upload their content and must not post unlawful, infringing, deceptive, dangerous, privacy-invasive, or exploitative material.

5. Spot information and Secret Spots

Spot pages, community posts, maps, reports, and ScoutSeek Lens routes may be incomplete, delayed, community-supplied, or inaccurate. Members must independently assess access, weather, water, terrain, closures, hazards, rules, and emergency conditions before acting.

Members may not expose, infer, scrape, or redistribute protected Secret Spot coordinates or use ScoutSeek to trespass, bypass closures, surveil people, or enter restricted areas.

6. Safety and no emergency service

ScoutSeek is not an emergency, rescue, medical, legal, regulatory, or professional safety service. Do not rely on ScoutSeek or ScoutSeek Lens for immediate-danger decisions. Contact local emergency services and official authorities when appropriate.

Outdoor and location-based activities involve inherent risks. Members are responsible for their decisions, equipment, skill level, permissions, and compliance with applicable rules.

7. Moderation and enforcement

ScoutSeek may review reports, restrict visibility, remove content, limit features, suspend accounts, preserve evidence, or refer matters to authorities when reasonably necessary to enforce policy, protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or secure the service.

Where appropriate, members may request review through Support. Appeals do not require ScoutSeek to restore dangerous, unlawful, infringing, or security-sensitive material while review is pending.

8. Future marketplace and paid features

No live-money marketplace is authorized under this draft. A future paid request flow may use server-owned pricing, prepayment at request placement, an acceptance-based cancellation cutoff, Scout cancellation compensation, tip earning only after delivery, and support review for safety or quality disputes. Those mechanics require separate activation, accurate point-of-sale disclosure, and professional review.

Prototype prices, fee splits, rewards, free periods, and payout percentages are not offers and must not be treated as final.

9. Future products

Scout Pro, runtime ScoutSeek Lens, Shops, Competitions, Groups, Hangouts, Safety Buddy, SellScout, sponsorships, affiliate programs, and other future products require their own activation notices or supplemental terms where appropriate. A feature shown as coming soon is not a promise of release, availability, price, or functionality.

10. Service availability and changes

ScoutSeek may test, change, limit, pause, or retire features to protect users, control costs, meet legal obligations, or improve the service. ScoutSeek does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, fulfillment, specific community participation, or the accuracy of user-supplied information.

11. Intellectual property

ScoutSeek's software, branding, interface, and original materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Members may not copy, reverse engineer, scrape, bypass access controls, or use ScoutSeek data to create an unauthorized competing dataset or service, except where applicable law does not permit that restriction.

12. Final legal terms required before activation

The operating legal entity, contact address, minimum age, governing law, venue or dispute process, warranty and liability language, indemnity language, notice procedure, and effective-date mechanics remain subject to counsel review. No arbitration or class-action waiver is adopted by this draft.
